SWISH

The swish is the most rewarding moment in basketball. When you release the ball, you already know, and when you hear the soft “swish” of the ball hitting the net and the net only, Is there anything better?

            This utility box was painted for the youth and older generations alike who enjoy the great American sport of Basketball. This box is located close to my home. I know many locals who have a love for the game. It’s a positive pastime that helps build character, keeps people healthy, and can keep kids out of trouble.

Reflecting on when it was painted, shortly after the COVID times. Basketball helped me cope with the pandemic, going out to the parks to join pick-up games with my brother was a way for us to bond as siblings. I’ve heard a theory for a healthy society is one where people play at the parks, I can get on board with that.

Swish is a celebration through painting of a game that unites people, encourages healthy competition, athleticism, style and finesse.
